Cheshire Council Deploys Cold Aisle Containment
Workspace Technology deploys FlexAisle® vendor independent aisle containment systems within their newly built shared Data Centre facility supporting both East & West Cheshire Council’s I.T services.
The new data centre deploys a classic hot and cold aisle cabinet arrangement. To help eliminate the mixing of hot and cold airflows the Council looked to implement a “cold aisle containment” system.
In response to this requirement Workspace Technology offered the FlexAisle® vendor independent aisle containment system. Unlike many of its competitors the FlexAisle® product is “cabinet” vendor independent and is able to support real word multivendor environments typical within local government and education data centres.
The initial deployment of FlexAisle® supports two dual aisle clusters of 32 racks. The configuration is a cold aisle corridor (CAC) which captured the cold air through the use of transparent roof panels and end of aisle doors. This segregation of hot and cold air flow has helped improve the energy efficiency of the cooling system by over 8% paying for its deployment in under 18 months.
